red-socks-md  Sock Tree – The Free the Children Team has decided to support a local charity by collecting warm socks and hats for adults in need. The weather is getting colder and some people cannot afford a new pair of socks to keep them warm. A Christmas tree has been set up if your family would like to add a warm pair of socks or hat, so we can keep some people warm this holiday season. Thank you!

Shape of the Week for Nov. 16 – 20, 2015

Thank you to the parents that joined us for our Remembrance Day assembly this morning. Our students impressed us again this year with their respect for this important assembly and our choir did a wonderful job.

The Clothing Drive is almost over, but if you still have things to donate please bring them to Portable P111 on Monday. All the donations will be picked up Tuesday morning.

Family Photo Night – Due to popular request, the PAC has arranged for another photography session for our school families.  The sessions will be done by Christopher Johnson.  He has been a photographer for over 25 years and has offered to do a fundraising photo shoot session for the families of Sullivan Elementary.  Photo sessions will be held in the P111 portable on Wednesday, November 18th.

Christopher is offering photo sessions at a cost of $20 per 15 minute session, which will include one 8×10 photo of your choice from the gallery of pictures he takes of your family.  You will also be able to purchase additional pictures from him directly.  He generously will be giving the session fees back to our school PAC.

This is a great opportunity to get some pictures done for the holidays, or for making cards and gifts!  Below there is a link for a sign up sheet.  Please sign up for the time slot you want, and then to secure your time slot, bring the $20 session fee to Marle Prasad or Heather Brown at the office before or after school.

If you have any questions, please email the PAC at

** Please Note that due to the use of a white sheet and background, shoes will have to be removed when your pictures are being taken.  **

Message from the PAC about the Christmas Craft Fair on November 8th:

Hello parents,

The Annual Sullivan Elementary Christmas Craft Fair is fast approaching!  It is going to be held on Sunday, November 8th at the Sullivan Hall (6306 152nd Street).  The fair hours are 10am – 4pm, and we need lots of volunteers to make this event a success.

In the past we have sent home a form to request volunteers, but as we are trying to get away from so much paper, we are trying a new volunteer sign up website.  If you are able to volunteer for any of the needed positions, click on the appropriate link and follow the directions to sign up.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Heather at

1.  We need volunteers to hand out flyers to homes in the surrounding neighbourhoods.  The flyers will be available to volunteers on Thursday & Friday (Oct 29 & 30) at the school.  You will be assigned an area and given the approximate amount of flyers necessary.  We ask that all flyers be handed out on the weekend of Oct 31 – Nov 1.

PLEASE CLICK on the following link to volunteer for the flyer distribution:

2.  We also need volunteers to work the event on Sunday, November 8th.  We need a variety of people for set up, concession, raffle ticket sales, popcorn sales, and clean up.  Each volunteer sign up is for a one-hour period.  If you are able to help us out, please click on the following link.  It will bring up a sheet with all of the different areas and time periods listed.  Choose the one(s) that you are able to work, click on the area under sign up, and then fill out the contact information.

PLEASE click on the following link to volunteer to work at the event:

Thank you everyone for your support!
