Shape of the Week for Jan. 18 – 22, 2016

Writing is one of our school goals this year so this week Grades 2 – 7 are doing a school-wide write to get a current writing sample from each student. Teachers then meet to look at the strengths and needs of the students in their class and create plan to address these needs that guides instruction in term two and three. We will do a school wide write again in June to see their growth and let us know if our instruction has helped improved their writing skills. For students, it will just be another writing activity.

book fair

Dear Parents and Families,

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! What better way to promote reading to our students than by supporting this important literary event.

We invite your entire family to participate by purchasing the latest and greatest in children’s books. Your support of this vital literary event is a key part of helping us obtain new books and resources for our library and classrooms.

You’ll find hundreds of quality books at our Book Fair with a wide assortment for all reading levels. Visit the Scholastic Book Fairs website at to read reviews of the Featured Books. You can also watch book trailers and author videos with your child on the BookTube page.

A Book Fair flyer will be sent home soon that provides a preview of only a FEW of the many books available to purchase at our Fair. You can scan the QR code on the front of the flyer to get more detailed information about these books.

Don’t forget to mark the Book Fair dates on your calendar! We look forward to seeing you during our Scholastic Book Fair and thank you, in advance, for supporting this great event. Thank you for believing in books and the impact of reading on your child’s future!

As last year, we need parent helpers to run the Book Fair when the classes come through, and for the family times – before and after school and the evening shopping. If you are available, please sign up for a time to come in and help out – sign up here.
